Growing Notes:
-
Use seed-starting trays or small pots with moist seed-starting mix.
-
Plant seeds 1/4 inch deep, placing 1-2 seeds per cell or pot. Space seeds 6-12 inches apart if sowing directly in the garden.
-
Water gently after planting, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Maintain a warm soil temperature
-
Place trays or pots in a warm, sunny location or under grow lights. Adjust grow lights to be 2-3 inches above seedlings as they grow.
-
Zinnia seeds germinate in 7-10 days.
-
Thin seedlings to one strong seedling per cell or pot by snipping weaker ones at the soil level. Keep the remaining seedling healthy and growing.
- Space transplanted zinnias 6-12 inches apart in a sunny location with well-drained soil. Water regularly and apply rich compost/manure every 4-6 weeks.
8. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continuous blooming. Watch for pests and treat as needed to keep your zinnias healthy.
