Thank you for choosing our premium Lavender seedlings! Here's how to care for your new plants.

Caring for lavender plants involves specific considerations to ensure they thrive and produce fragrant blooms. Here’s a detailed care guide covering each aspect:

Site Selection:
Choose a location that provides full sun for at least 6-8 hours daily. Lavender prefers well-drained soil with a slightly alkaline pH (around 6.5 to 7.5). Ensure good air circulation around the plants to prevent fungal diseases.

Soil Preparation:
Prepare the soil by mixing in sand or gravel to improve drainage, especially if your soil tends to be heavy or clay-like. Lavender plants dislike wet feet, so well-draining soil is crucial.

Planting:
Plant lavender in the spring after the last frost date or in early fall. Space plants about 12 to 18 inches apart, depending on the variety. Gently loosen the root ball before planting and water thoroughly after planting.

Watering:
Water newly planted lavender regularly to establish roots, but once established, lavender is drought-tolerant. Water deeply but infrequently, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot.

Sunlight:
Lavender thrives in full sunlight. Ensure they receive at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal growth and flowering.

Fertilizing:
Lavender is a light feeder and does not require much fertilizer. Apply a balanced organic fertilizer sparingly in early, if necessary, to encourage healthy growth. Avoid high-nitrogen fertilizers, which can promote leafy growth at the expense of flowers.

 Pest and Disease Management:
Lavender is generally resistant to pests and diseases, but occasionally it can be affected by aphids, spider mites, or fungal diseases like root rot. Monitor plants regularly for signs of pests or diseases. Prune back overcrowded growth to improve air circulation and reduce disease risk.

Harvesting:
Harvest lavender blooms when the flowers are fully open but before they begin to fade. Cut flower stems just above the leaves. Harvest in the morning after the dew has dried but before the sun gets too hot for the best fragrance retention.

Pruning:
Prune lavender plants lightly after flowering to promote bushy growth and maintain shape. Avoid cutting into old wood, as lavender plants do not regenerate from old, woody stems well.

By following these care guidelines, you can successfully grow and maintain healthy lavender plants that provide beautiful blooms and aromatic foliage throughout the growing season.
